Cristiano Ronaldo has almost certainly committed his future to Manchester United for this season, effectively ruling out a late move to Chelsea amid Todd Boehly’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang concern. The 37-year-old began the summer transfer window with one goal in mind: to leave Old Trafford for the second time in order to compete in the Champions League in 2022/23. The mission began well, with super agent Jorge Mendes contacting potential suitors for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner. There was even a point when Chelsea appeared to be making good progress on the CR7 deal. According to, Todd Boehly met with Mendes in Portugal and left the meeting eager to complete this Hollywood-style signing. A deal that was halted from the start by manager Thomas Tuchel, who prefers Barcelona’s Aubameyang to fill the temporary void left at the top by the departures of Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku. Man United drop a major Cristiano Ronaldo transfer hint, while Chelsea maintains its stance. There was speculation that if the former Arsenal man did not want to join his London rivals, Ronaldo would reconsider, with some reports claiming that Tuchel could reverse his initial stance. United’s number 7 has, however, dropped a number of hints that he will be content to stay at least this season through social media stunts such as the club posting numerous training pictures of him on their social media. However, the Portugal international modeling this season’s third kit was a huge hint that Erik ten Hag’s key man would commit for another season. Ten Hag confirmed this, effectively putting an end to all media speculation. “That’s what you’re assuming [that Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave]. That is not what he is saying to me “In an embargoed section of his press conference ahead of Brentford, the Dutch manager said. “I deal with the players we have; we have plans for him [Ronaldo] this season, we are happy with him, and now we have to fit him into the team, so he has to get to the right fitness levels so that he can do the job we expect him to do.” With Chelsea and Boehly only willing to pay half of Barcelona’s £21 million asking price for the Gabonese striker, it appears that the striker market is now boom or bust. Pay the £21m or walk away and go with what you have which even Tuchel himself knows Is limited. Chelsea fans- If both Cristiano Ronaldo and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang both became unattainable at this late stage of the transfer window, is there any striker, in particular, who you want to see the club make a late swoop for?
