Arsenal are still looking for a winger, but Leeds are set to sign Sarr

Arsenal made a strong start to the summer transfer window, addressing both the offensive and defensive positions, which clearly needed to be strengthened at the end of last season. Despite a strong start to the window, more acquisitions are required. The Gunners have been looking for a midfielder and a winger throughout the transfer window with little success. However, Arsenal’s fortunes may be about to change after the asking price for Cody Gakpo, who has been linked with a move to the club since the January transfer window last season, was revealed. Edu’s pursuit of the Dutchman has gained momentum after it was revealed that Leeds United are set to sign Ismaila Sarr. Both Gakpo and Sarr play in the same position, so they are unlikely to sign another winger. Arsenal has been given a £50 million transfer bonus as Manchester United reveals their availability for Edu’s ideal target. According to the French news outlet Foot Mercato, Leeds and Watford are nearing an agreement to sign Sarr. The Senegalese international has been in fine form for the Hornets, as evidenced by his spectacular goal against West Brom on Monday evening. Leeds are also interested in Gakpo, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. However, this transaction is now unlikely to take place because Sarr and Gakpo play in the same position. Mikel Arteta is thought to be looking for a new winger before the transfer window closes, and the club’s unsuccessful pursuit of Raphinha is the strongest indication yet that it is serious about bringing one in. Given the lack of movement since, it appears that the opportunity to secure the Brazilian’s services was too good to pass up. Despite that possible explanation, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims that Edu is already looking for another winger, but Arsenal’s silence is making it difficult to determine who it could be. Arsenal have been linked with a’mystery winger,’ which Fabrizio Romano claims is a position Edu and Mikel Arteta want to fill. According to the Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor, Gakpo is an attainable signing for Arsenal. The reason for this is because the Dutchman is priced at around £30million-£35million. The 22-year-old played 42 games on the left-hand side for PSV last season and played another three games as a centre-forward. However, he has shown a clinical nature from whatever position he is playing in, as he scored 19 goals from the left wing and two goals in three games as a striker. However, Arsenal are not totally clear of competitors when it comes to securing his signature. Transfer Guru Romano has offered an update on Arsenal and United’s pursuit of Gakpo in his latest CaughtOffside column. “Cody Gakpo is a player on the Manchester United list, but PSV Eindhoven have not yet received an official offer. They’re expecting that step to understand if Man United will want to get serious for Gakpo,” Romano explained.
