According to Spanish news reports, Manchester United and Frenkie de Jong are nearing an agreement.
Since the beginning of the summer, United has been actively seeking out the Barcelona midfielder. Erik ten Hag chose De Jong as his preferred target as the former Ajax manager plans a get-together at Old Trafford.
The 25-year-old wasn’t precisely the first signing he had hoped for, despite his best efforts. Due to initial discussions showing a significant gap between the two sides’ respective valuations, United has been left disappointed in their negotiations with Barcelona.

Although United has another offer set up for this week, they are prepared to back out of the agreement if they continue to be dissatisfied. Sport, a Spanish weekly, claims they might have made a crucial breakthrough.
According to their report, De Jong is “coming closer” to joining United. It is also implied that both parties anticipate reaching a consensus on a settlement in the “coming days.”
However, there hasn’t been any agreement between the two teams as of yet. The most likely candidate to be named as United’s first summer signing is currently De Jong.
Dan-Axel Zagadou, a defender for Borussia Dortmund, is reportedly interested in a surprise move to United. According to reports in France, several English clubs, including United, are keeping an eye on the 23-year-old.
After leaving Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, Zagadou has struggled to live up to the potential that many had anticipated. Numerous clubs have shown interest in the French Under-21 international, who is now considering leaving.
The defender’s contract in Germany expires this summer, and according to the French publication Foot Mercato, Nice is interested in signing him. Ten Hag is reportedly eager to recruit a new center-back and United is one of the teams bidding for his services.
