Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Sporting Lisbon is “complex”, says Foot Mercato

Cristiano Ronaldo, the Manchester United forward, has been linked with a return to Sporting Lisbon in order to escape his Old Trafford nightmare.
According to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, the Portuguese club understands that the transaction will be “complicated.” Hugo Viana, the club’s sporting director, is working hard behind the scenes to bring Ronaldo back to his first club.

Sporting Lisbon was where the 37-year-old began his career before joining Manchester United in 2003. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is said to be desperate to leave Old Trafford this summer in order to play in the Champions League.

Sporting will compete in the tournament after finishing second the previous season, despite the fact that they are unlikely to win Europe’s most coveted club prize this season.
Ronaldo’s current contract at Manchester United expires in a year, with the club currently sitting at the bottom of the Premier League table.

The Portugal captain appeared for 45 minutes in the first-day defeat at home to Brighton & Hove Albion. He did, however, play the entire 90 minutes of United’s 4-0 defeat at Brentford on Saturday evening (13 August).
This summer, the legendary attacker has been linked with a number of Europe’s top clubs, but has yet to find a new club.
‘The media is lying to us. I keep a notebook, and only 5 of the 100 stories they published in the last few months were correct.’ Ronaldo

Pundit believes Manchester United must make a “big” decision regarding Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford last summer and scored 24 goals in 38 appearances for the club in the most recent season.
However, given Ten Hag’s insistence on his attackers pressing hard, there are questions about whether or not the veteran attacker can adapt to the Dutchman’s system.
Former Leeds and Sheffield United goalkeeper Paddy Kenny believes the 20-time English champions are facing a major decision, telling Football Insider: “He hasn’t had a full pre-season.” His future is uncertain; I noticed he has been leaving games early, which does not bode well. Ten Hag is having a difficult time. He won’t want to play Ronaldo because of his summer behavior, but you have to because of how bad they have been.”

Everything is wrong with that United dressing room when they blame their poor performances on Ronaldo. Imagine Liverpool players blaming Salah for a loss, or City players blaming De Bruyne for a loss. The worst group of players United has ever had.
“We don’t know what’s going on with his future; do clubs even want to sign him?” he added. It’s not like they’re waiting in line, is it? We all know that the club needs to change. Would it be better if Ronaldo left? It’s a difficult one. He guarantees you success.” “But he is also a negative influence,” he added. Someone at the club needs to make a big decision here quickly, before the window closes.”
