Real Madrid have reportedly agreed a deal with Bayer Leverkusen to sign former Barcelona prospect Iker Bravo. Real Madrid have completed the signing of 17-year-old Spanish striker Iker Bravo from German giants Bayer Leverkusen, according to reputed Spanish journalist Gerard Romero. Once the transfer is finalized, the former Barcelona youth prospect is expected to join Raul Gonzalez’s Castilla side. Bravo spent his formative years at Barcelona’s illustrious La Masia youth academy, rising to the Under-16 level before joining Bayer Leverkusen in the summer transfer window last year. After relocating to Germany, the young striker continued to impress for Die Werkself’s youth teams. Bravo was promoted to the Under-19 squad after scoring three goals in three matches for the Under-17 team. In 14 games, he netted seven goals and assisted on three more. Gerardo Seoane gave the teenage Spanish prodigy his first-team debut in a DFB-Pokal match against Karlsruher SC in October last year. Bravo then appeared in a Bundesliga game against Hertha BSC in November 2021, but has not appeared in another game for the first team since. It would be extremely strange for Barça fans if Iker Bravo eventually chose Real Madrid. Just a reminder that he was one of the best strikers to emerge from La Masia in recent years, and many fans still remember him fondly. Seeing him in Blancos will undoubtedly break people’s hearts. pic.twitter.com/vnXBjuW3Qi August 10, 2022 — R.D. Football Scout (@RdScouting) Bravo’s goal-scoring abilities at such a young age piqued the interest of Real Madrid, who have been attempting to sign the 17-year-old for some time. However, they faced stiff competition from neighbors and bitter rivals Atletico Madrid, who were also looking to sign the teen sensation. However, it appears that Real Madrid has won the race for the former Barcelona prodigy, having agreed to sign Bravo from Bayer Leverkusen. As mentioned earlier, the 17-year-old will likely be a part of Raul Gonzalez’s Real Madrid Castilla outfit, who are in need of attacking reinforcements after seeing the likes of Andri Gudjohnsen and Jaume Jardi leave the club. Furthermore, Juanmi Latasa is being linked with a departure, which would leave Castilla with a gaping hole at the top. So, even though Real Madrid have already brought in Noel Lopez and Alvaro Leiva to compensate for those departures, Bravo’s signing will give the team even more firepower as they seek promotion to La Liga 2. Furthermore, given the dearth of backup options for Karim Benzema in the senior team, Bravo could soon find himself playing under Carlo Ancelotti if he continues to develop at the current rate.
