Trevoh Chalobah has piqued the interest of a number of clubs in recent days. Inter Milan appear to be the most interested, and according to Gianluca Di Marzio, Alfredo Pedulla, and Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), they are now ready to move forward with their bid to sign the 23-year-old on a season-long loan.
The Nerazzurri want to first confirm with Chelsea that Chalobah, whom they regard as the “perfect candidate” and their priority target, is indeed available on the market (ed. note: availability that is likely contingent on Chelsea signing a new center back). Romelu Lukaku’s close friendship with Chalobah could certainly play a role, and personal terms aren’t expected to be difficult to agree upon.
Chelsea is in contact with deal intermediaries for the Fofana deal, but they are also working on outgoings: Inter are attempting to sign Trevoh Chalobah on loan. #CFCSerie A side Spezia has requested that Ethan Ampadu be loaned to them. Chelsea may also be hesitant to let Chalobah leave because Ethan Ampadu is reportedly close to joining Spezia, according to Sky Sport Italia (via Football Italia) and Gazzetta dello Sport.
An agreement for a season-long loan appears to be near, with Spezia paying a loan fee of €1.5 million. They will also reportedly have the option of signing Ampadu on a permanent basis at the end of the season for €12 million. The deal is expected to be completed by the end of the week.
Ampadu has made a total of 12 appearances for Chelsea’s senior team. His current contract expires in 2024.
Eduardo Gabriel Aquino Cossa, or Pepê, is a new name in the Chelsea rumor mill, with all three major Portuguese media outlets, Record, O Jogo, and A Bola (all via Sport Witness), reporting that the Blues have made an enquiry for the 25-year-old winger.
Pepê, a nominal left winger who can also play on the opposite flank, scored six goals and provided six assists in 42 appearances for Porto last season. According to reports, Chelsea scouts were impressed with his performances, so we contacted both the player’s representatives and the Porto hierarchy to assess the likelihood of a transfer.
Porto have reportedly quoted us his full release clause of €70m, making any deal here very unlikely right now.
Last but not least, Hakim Ziyech is in talks with Ajax Amsterdam about a possible move — but only on loan, according to De Telegraaf, and only covering half his wages. That sounds like a very bad deal for us, especially considering the massive windfall that Ajax could receive from Antony’s proposed transfer to Manchester United.
But that may still be preferable over any deal involving Tottenham Hotspur, who have been linked today as well. Antonio Conte, according to AD, has asked Spurs to make an attempt (ed.note: which would be highly amusing if it were indeed true; and yeah, also a big fat no, Antonio).
