James Garner is committed to working hard to fulfill his goal of playing regularly for Manchester United.
After missing the first two games of Tour 2022, the midfielder has returned after an incredibly successful season with Nottingham Forest and is once again working with the team.
The England Under-21 international is eager to win over new United manager Erik ten Hag. He assisted Forest in earning promotion to the Premier League for the first time in this century.
Tuesday’s match against Crystal Palace, which will be broadcast live on MUTV via the United App and ManUtd.com, could provide him a chance to rack up some playing time and face Premier League opponents.
He told the club’s reporters, “I want to play for United, of course. Even if you don’t play for United, I believe it to be the dream of the majority of people. That is obviously my goal for this season, so hopefully I have a successful preseason. The upcoming? To play for Manchester United is most likely the same response. I’ve developed as a player and a man ever since I was a young lad, and I feel that Manchester has been my home my entire life. Since I’ve spent my entire life in Manchester, I absolutely want to keep doing it. Garner will undoubtedly be well-prepared for what lies ahead thanks to the experience he earned at Forest. It was enormous. On loan, you pick up a lot of knowledge, he said. “You discover yourself. The most important lesson I believe I’ve learned is that I now feel confident in my ability to perform at a high level.
“Perhaps playing in front of crowds [was the biggest experience] for me personally.” The previous season, when Covid happened, I was out on loan. For me, last season, this has been something that I have had to adapt to.”
