It is rumored that Manchester United is stepping up its efforts to capture Youri Tielemans from Leicester, a player who reportedly has personal terms with Arsenal. With his current deal with the Foxes entering its final year, the midfielder is reportedly looking for a new team this summer. Journalists have stated that the Gunners started negotiations for a contract to sign him earlier in 2022, and we are alleged to have agreed on personal terms. However, we now risk losing out because the Red Devils are reportedly prepared to make their own offer for his services. Despite rumors of an agreement with his current club, Frenkie De Jong appears to be continuing to reject United’s attempts to recruit him from Barcelona this summer. They now appear to be focusing on Tielemans, who, according to CBS Sports (via the Express), has attracted the attention of new manager Erik Ten Hag. The timing may be ideal because we are preoccupied with trying to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City, who is an adept player as a center midfielder or at left back. I’ve been a big admirer of Youri for a while, and I’ll be a little disappointed if he ends up signing with our competitors instead of the Emirates, but it does seem like they’ve decided they’d rather have Zinchenko’s signature, perhaps because of his versatility. If it were up to me, I would have tried to cash in on either Mo Elneny or Granit Xhaka to take advantage of Tielemans’ contract situation because I think he would have been a better option for us and a player who very much matches our current transfer strategy. He will likely give Manchester United an even bigger boost, in my opinion. Do you think we’ll regret it soon for letting United sign the Belgian?
