Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has denied Manchester United’s interest in Germany international Leroy Sane. According to the Mirror, United have made a “shock enquiry” for the former Manchester City star as they seek to strengthen their attacking options before the transfer window closes at the beginning of next month. United are looking to bolster their attacking options and have been linked with Ajax star Antony for much of the summer. However, the Dutch heavyweights are determined to keep the Brazilian, which means that United will be forced to look elsewhere for new attacking talent. The Reds currently have a reasonably well-stocked wide area, with Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Anthony Elanga, and Alejandro Garnacho all capable of playing on the flanks. However, it appears that Sane will not be the man, with Bayern rejecting reports that United have made a bid for his signature. “That is not true,” Salihamidzic told Sky90. “He’s a vital member of our team. There is absolutely nothing to say about it.” Sane, who will look to help Germany reclaim the World Cup from France in Qatar later this year, joined Bayern from City in a deal worth more than £50 million in July 2020. He has been a huge success for Bayern so far, assisting them in winning six major trophies since his arrival. Sane, who has 25 goals in 91 appearances for Bayern, faces an uncertain future at the club following the arrival of Sadio Mane from Liverpool earlier this summer. Mane started the Bundesliga opener against Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday, alongside Serge Gnabry, with Sane on the bench. READ NEXT: The most recent United news, opinions, and transfer rumors.
