Midfielder Yusuf Yazici may have to leave Lille, says president Olivier Letang

Former Ligue 1 champions Lille are being courted by Premier League clubs Fulham and Nottingham Forest, according to club president Olivier Letang. After scoring eight goals in ten league games on loan at CSKA Moscow last season, Turkey international Yazici might have assumed he’d be returning to France this summer looking for a fresh start. However, in Lille’s first two games under Paulo Fonseca, the 25-year-old has only played six minutes. Yazici appears to be ripe for the chop, with Les Dogues hoping to trim the fat from a bloated squad. Yusuf Yazici talks were held at Nottingham Forest and Fulham. “We don’t want a squad of 25, 26, 27, 28, 29 players.” We need space, and we want all of the boys in the group – regardless of age or status – to be able to play,” explains former PSG manager Letang. Fulham are in talks with a player worth £12 million, according to the agent. “Today we may have one or two departures,” says the agent, adding that Fulham and Nottingham Forest are in talks to sign the “amazing no 10.” I’m thinking of Yusuf Yazici and Isaac Lihadji. “If we look at the squads at the top of the table last year, in all of these clubs, there were three or four players who made significant contributions.” We want to see if we can get better in this area.” Yazici’s agent claimed earlier this summer that both Nottingham Forest and Fulham were interested in his £12 million-rated client. Adam Chebedzhi stated that the two Premier League newcomers were ‘negotiating’ with Lille. However, things have quieted down since then. Nottingham Forest appear to be interested in Atalanta’s Ruslan Malinovskyi, another goal-scoring midfielder. Fulham, on the other hand, prefer wingers to an old-school, space-invading number ten like Yazici. Roma’s Justin Kluivert and veteran free agent Willian are both expected to arrive at Craven Cottage in the coming days.
