In the months leading up to the start of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, numerous outstanding new tourist attractions will open nationwide. These new additions, which range from a winter sun heaven to a water sports paradise, each provide something unique to the peninsula’s eclectic mix of sights and activities to appeal to every kind of traveler.
Qatar Tourism has unveiled the newest attractions that will expand on the enormous tourism development strategy of the last few years, one year after Qatar reopened its borders to the rest of the globe on July 12, 2021. Qatar wants to take advantage of the over one million projected visitors for the FIFA World Cup 2022TM to showcase its hidden gems and unbeatable travel opportunities.
Berthold Trenkel, Chief Operating Officer of Qatar Tourism, stated: “The World Cup countdown is well started and there are many world-class attractions to come before the matches start. We believe that among the excitement surrounding the actual tournament, visitors will be awed by Qatar’s cutting-edge new tourism developments, greatly enhancing the country’s appeal as a top vacation spot. There are many new resorts, spas, and restaurants available for travelers searching for a more peaceful holiday. New beaches are available for those wanting sun, sea, and sand.
These are the upcoming five big openings:
Wonderland of Winter
The new 200,000 square meter attraction, which will be located next to Lusail City just north of Qatar’s capital, will be run by IMG (International Marketing Group), the same organization that oversees Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park each year.
Located in Fuwairit, Fuwairit Kite Beach (FKB) is a brand-new, cutting-edge kite beach resort. An easy hour’s drive north of Doha is the coastal community of Fuwairit, which offers ideal kitesurfing conditions because of its reliable winds, great ocean water, and powder-soft sands. With all you need for the water and considerably more when you’re not, the resort is made just for kitesurfers. A yoga studio, fully-stocked gym, restaurants, a pool, and much more will be available.
The Al Barari Outpost
The Outpost, a stunning resort in the incredibly rare Inland Sea natural reserve, will be the first of its type in Qatar and will combine eco-awareness, sustainability, and opulent hospitality.
North of Qetaifan Island
Billed as the first “Entertainment Island” in Qatar, Qetaifan Island North will feature floating hotels, beach clubs and a water park with 36 rides – including “The Icon Tower” zone, featuring an 85-metre-high slide set to become the highest of its kind in the world. The island, which spans 1.3 million square meters, is close to the Lusail Stadium, the site of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM final.
North Beach in West Bay Project
A massive new tourism project called West Bay North Beach is being built; it will encompass 40,000 square meters of prime beachfront in the center of Doha. The public and private beach areas will offer three distinct beach experiences with a wide variety of food and beverage offerings, to create a sought-after city beach experience for everyone to enjoy.
