PSG are reportedly in advanced talks with RB Leipzig defender Nordi Mukiele, who was previously offered to Tottenham earlier in the transfer window.
The Ligue 1 champions are in talks with the east German side to sign Mukiele, according to L’Equipe, with the report stating that an agreement in principle has been reached over personal terms, with a transfer fee the final hurdle for PSG to land the Bundesliga star.
Mukiele has been one of Leipzig’s most impressive and consistent players since joining the club in 2018, but the defensive colossus now looks set to leave Germany this summer, with PSG in talks to sign the 24-year-old and Tottenham already passing up the opportunity to sign the Frenchman.
According to reports, Tottenham were offered the chance to sign Mukiele for just £17 million this summer, but Antonio Conte turned it down despite the defender’s incredible versatility and record in the Bundesliga with Leipzig.
Mukiele is capable of playing as both a centre-back and a right-back, which has piqued the interest of PSG as they look to rebuild their squad under new manager Christophe Galtier, and the former Montpellier star could be an excellent addition.
Indeed, Mukiele has played in both Ligue 1 and the UEFA Champions League, and the defender has a groundedness about him that would make him a welcome presence in the PSG dressing room, much to the chagrin of Tottenham, who may now be kicking themselves for passing up the 24-year-old earlier this summer.
Mukiele has been regarded as an underrated defender in the Bundesliga, but Galtier’s arrival at PSG, as well as sporting director Luis Campos, appear to be bringing the defender to the forefront of the European footballing scene if the French giants sign the defender who was rejected by Tottenham.
The defender has impressed for years in Germany, and now Mukiele looks set for his big break at PSG, where the versatile defensive talent has the potential to become a superstar in the French capital, which will enrage Tottenham fans.
