Spain’s Thiago Alcantara is expected to miss the World Cup in Qatar.

If you ask any Liverpool fan what they think of Thiago Alcantara, they will tell you that he is our best midfielder and will almost certainly start if he is fit and able. However, this is clearly not the opinion of Luis Enrique, as our man was left out of Spain’s World Cup squad and was never really in contention to be a part of it. Our No.6 hasn’t played for his country in over a year, and it’s clear that he’s out of the running for a spot in the first team, unless injuries present an opportunity for him to play again. All of this is good news for the Reds because we now have another player confirmed to be out of the tournament, which should help ensure that we are ready to compete on all fronts when the World Cup concludes and our game against Manchester City kicks off a hectic return to domestic football. Jurgen Klopp will have to do some cheerleading as he tries to keep everyone’s emotions in check ahead of our final game, throughout the tournament, and after it concludes.
