18 August 2022 Getty Images/Rob Carr Keegan Bradley leads the 2022 BMW Championship at Wilmington Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware, after a blistering first round in which he finished with a seven-under 64. Bradley and Adam Scott battled throughout the first round, but the latter couldn’t match the leader’s performance on Thursday, despite carding seven birdies in a near-perfect round. Here is the leaderboard after one day of play: Keegan Bradley (-72), Adam Scott (-6T3) Shane Lowry: -5T3. Harold Varner III: -5T3. Justin Thomas: -5T6. Chez Reavie has a -4T6. Collin Morikawa has a -4T6. Xander Schauffele has a -4T6. Christiaan Bezuidenhout has a -4T6. Tyrrell Hatton has a -4T6. Russell Henley has a -4T6. Complete results are available at PGATour.com. Bradley’s hot start on the front nine helped him take the lead. The 36-year-old carded six birdies in the first nine holes before closing with two more birdies and a bogey on the back nine. He also didn’t miss a putt within 10 feet of the hole. The Vermont native has four PGA Tour victories, the most recent of which came in the 2018 BMW Championship. His best finish of the year came in May, when he tied for second at the Wells Fargo Championship. Rory McIlroy appeared to be in command and secure the lead at one point during Thursday’s action, but a triple bogey on the 15th hole dropped him to three under. Zalatoris got off to a slow start, carding a double bogey, birdie, and bogey on the front nine before closing with a scorching back nine, carding four birdies to improve his standing heading into Round 2 on Friday. He’s 2-under par through 16 holes after shooting +2 on the front nine. a href=”https://t.co/H9FhFg3bUv”>H9FhFg3bUv pic.twitter.com/H9FhFg3bUv While it appeared he had things under control, the 26-year-old fumbled on the 18th hole, carding a bogey. Given that there are still three days of action in Wilmington, we could see a lot of movement on the leaderboard, and Bradley will find it difficult to maintain his lead with several players within striking distance. 🚨 GET SPORTS NEWS IN YOUR INBOX The most recent sports news, updated daily.
